What factors can affect the service lifetime of linear rail ?

The linear bearing rail lifetime refers to Distance , not the real time as we said. In other words, the life of linear guide is defined as the total running distance until the surface of ball path and steel ball are peeled off due to material fatigue.

The life of lm guide is generally based on the rated life, the definition is : A batch of the same product operates under the same conditions and rated load one by one, 90% of which without surface peeling phenomenon can reach the total operating distance. That’s the theoretical life span.

The actual lifetime of linear guides will vary according to the actual load carried by customers, there are three factors that determined the life of linear motion guide as follows:

1. Surface hardness, it is more suitable to keep surface hardness of linear guide in HRC58-62 .

2. System temperature, High temperature will affect the material of linear guide. The system temperature should be lower than 100℃.

3. Working load, In addition to the force moment and inertia of the machine itself, there are uncertain loads accompanied by movement, so it is not easy to calculate out the working load, must according to the experience. Generally, the service life can be calculated according to the basic rated dynamic load C and working load P of the linear block. The service life of the linear guide will change with the movement status, the hardness of the rolling surface and the environmental temperature.
